Hale - Shooting Star

The band Hale’s first single “Broken Sonnet” was an instant hit - the song’s sincerity instantly caught the attention of the Philippine youth and the rest was history.

All of the members from the southern part of Metro Manila and with vocalist Champ Lui-Pio, Hale is under EMI Philippines and continues to make hits since the 1st quarter of 2005.

It’s a song saying how one feels losing someone you love, and things you wish you had done and said when you were still together, but everything is too late.

Rivermaya - You’ll Be Safe Here

One of the most influential alternative rock bands in the Philippines along with The Eraserheads, Rivermaya has several well-known singles such as Ulan, 214, Himala, Kisap Mata, If, You’ll Be Safe Here, and many others.

The band was formed in 1993 and has evolved from playing simple rock music to hard rock, acoustic, pop, and other variations. They have also recently released work in Singapore, Thailand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia and have garnered the attention of fans throughout Southeast Asia.

6CycleMind - Upside Down

6CycleMind is a well-known Philippine rock band whose members are Ronel “Ney” Dimaculangan on lead vocals, Ryan “Rye” Sarmiento on vocals & rhythm, Roberto “Bob” CaƱamo on bass, Gilbert “Bert” Magat on guitars and Carlos “Chuck” Isidro lead guitars. Their music is a mix of alternative and pop music.
The band was named 6CycleMind although the band is only composed of 5 members because they consider their manager to be the 6th member. They have successfully released 3 albums under Sony BMG Records Philippines: Permission to Shine (2003), Panorama (2005), and Home (2007).

Jay-R - Stick with You

Dubbed as the R&B Prince, Jay-R (Gaudencio Aquino Sillona III) is one of the regular mainstays of the noontime show SOP along with other artists like Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, and is often paired with Kyla, the Philippine’s R&B Princess.

Jay-R’s music is a mixture of rap, pop, and R&B, but his vocal range is not to be undermined as he can easily belt out to different tunes and can do duets with the country’s premier singers. The video below is Jay-R with Kyla, singing a duet of Stick with You by the Pussycat Dolls on SOP.

Billy Crawford - Trackin’

Born Billy Joe Crawford in May 16, 1982 in the Philippines, he spent several years in the show That’s Entertainment before his family relocated to Texas. After he won a Dallas talent show, he traveled to New York to record and write material for his self-titled debut album under V2 Records. Today he continues to regularly visit the Philippines with his mom, and just concluded a very highly-successful concert here in the Philippines entitled Move.

M.Y.M.P. - Especially for You

Make Your Momma Proud (M.Y.M.P) is a Filipino acoustic band known for covering old songs and reviving them into acoustic songs. The band is composed of Juris Fernandez on lead vocals and Chin Alcantara on guitar and occasional vocals.

The band is an easy favorite among romantics but at the same time receives heavy criticism due to the fact that they do very few original songs.

Pupil - Sala

A relatively new band but with seasoned members, Pupil is composed of Ely Buendia, Yan Yuzon, Dok Sergio, and Wendell Garcia, all belonging to a different band at some point. The most notable being Ely Buendia, the former front man of the band The Eraserheads.

Following their first gig in 2005, Pupil has won several music awards from NU 107, Awit Awards, SOP, and MTV Philippines.

Side A - Forevermore

If the Eraserheads is the Beatles Philippine version, then Side A would be the country’s Toto, featuring an endless supply of clean, straight soft rock.

Formed in back in 1985, the music they made were featured by easy-listening style and their mellow love songs and laid-back pop music. The albums Side A released all went platinum and some even triple platinum, and aside from bringing the band fortunes, also made way for successful concerts in the US. Decades later, Side A still continues to create the same laid-back rock and mellow love songs the same way they started back in the 80’s.

Lani Misalucha - As If We Never Said Goodbye

Lani Misalucha is a Filipina pop, r&b, opera singer, and one of the acclaimed singers from the Philippine music industry. Prior to residing and performing at the Flamingo, Las Vegas with the variety troupe Society of Seven, she was also previously a tv host and regular mainstay for SOP with other singers like Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, and Kyla. She is also often referred to as Asia’s Nightingale.
